KU stands for Kindle Unlimited, and it’s honestly the best thing since the public library—especially if you read a lot. Like, a hundred or more books a year, which I do. I think I read about 400 books in 2024.
KU offers all the popular titles you’d find at a brick-and-mortar store, but it also has millions (or however many) of indie books. For the Romance genre, indie titles are really the bread and butter. You can find something for anyone—monsters, suspense, Amish, contemporary, paranormal, LGBTQ+, novellas, series—there’s really nothing missing.
KU is a subscription service that costs about $10 USD per month. That’s way cheaper than a single hardcover, and maybe two paperbacks even if you catch a sale. Now, I get it—I have more books than I can shelve. But with KU, I can read books on my e-reader (which is actually my iPhone) and only purchase hard copies of the ones I truly want to keep. It’s awesome!
So, to sum up my love for KU: it’s diverse, cost-effective, and has something for everyone. Plus, there’s no waiting list like at the library. It’s truly the best, and it’s helped turn me into the addicted, over-reader I am today.
